MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/06/12 -- Axcient, the leading provider of cloud-based data and application uptime solutions for the small and mid-sized business (SMB) market, today announced the addition of two key members to its executive team with Asim Razzaq joining as Vice President of Engineering and Eric Weiss joining as Vice President of Marketing. Together, Asim and Eric bring more than 30 years of experience in building high-performing teams and leading organizations in hyper-growth companies. The additions of Asim and Eric come shortly after the announcement that Axcient was named one of America's fastest growing companies by the Inc. 500 list.
"We continue to aggressively execute on our mission end IT downtime and make it easy for businesses to store, protect and access all their information and systems in the cloud," said Axcient CEO Justin Moore. "Asim and Eric both bring expertise in rapidly building and scaling platform-based service companies at a global level, and creatively solving complex problems. With the addition of Asim and Eric's leadership, we have the right executive team to drive the technology platform and marketing ecosystem needed for the company to rocket to the top of the multi-billion dollar data protection industry."
Prior to joining Axcient, Asim built from the ground-up and ran the engineering team responsible for the PayPal Developer Platform -- a critical part of the eBay/PayPal payments platform that supported more than 70,000 developers and handled more than 1 million transactions a month. Prior to PayPal, Asim managed development at QuickArrow (acquired by NetSuite), a professional services automation platform used by more than 80,000 business users.
"Axcient is redefining the data protection and information management market and I am thrilled to be joining such an exceptional team," said Asim Razzaq. "I'm looking forward to helping build the most robust and reliable platform in the market and leading the development of the next generation of cloud functionality. Axcient will be the platform that not only provides businesses with total IT protection, but also helps businesses maximize productivity."
Eric joins the Axcient team from GreenRoad where he was the SVP of Marketing and SVP of Worldwide Global Operations, helping to grow the company's booked revenue from $1M to over $30M in two years. Prior to GreenRoad, Eric launched Covad's SaaS offerings and grew cloud services to over $100 million. Eric was also COO and co-founder of ITXC, where he grew revenue from $0 to $350M, leading to a successful IPO.
"Axcient is leading an entire ecosystem of over 700 resellers and managed service providers who are eliminating IT downtime for businesses, a major pain point that costs the average small to medium-sized business over $150,000 per year," said Eric Weiss. "I am very excited about the opportunity to accelerate Axcient's growth through award-winning channel partner programs and by empowering more businesses with the knowledge that backup, as they know it, has been completely redefined."
