AUSTIN, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 09/17/12 -- Zenoss, a leading provider of unified IT operations software for physical, virtual, and cloud-based IT infrastructure, today announced the appointment of Chris Smith as Chief Marketing Officer. Smith brings 15 years of security and systems management industry experience to Zenoss. He has held senior marketing positions with emerging and established vendors including Alert Logic, BindView, BMC Software, PentaSafe Security Technologies, Postini and NetIQ.

Smith joins Zenoss from Quest Software where he was VP of Product and Partner Marketing. Before then, he was VP of Marketing and Product Management at Alert Logic having joined the company in 2006. Smith also worked with BindView (now Symantec), a global provider of IT security policy compliance software, where he was vice president of field marketing and RAZOR Research. He was responsible for the strategy, messaging, and positioning of BindView's highly successful security compliance solutions and RAZOR program. Prior to BindView, Smith held senior marketing positions with Postini, a provider of email security services, NetIQ, a vendor of integrated systems and security management solutions, PentaSafe Security Technologies, a security management software vendor (acquired by NetIQ), and BMC Software, a provider of ebusiness systems management software. Smith holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University and an MBA from Rice University.
