Two hundred fifty Serena Software customers gathered last week at Serena xChange, the leader in Orchestrated IT solutions' 16th global user conference. Together with Serena partners and staff, plus another 200 customers who tuned in to live conference webcasts, the general sessions numbered 600 participants. Held at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Resort in Las Vegas, attendees from 27 countries heard about new and upgraded award-winning Serena Orchestrated IT products launched at the show, listened to real-world customer case studies from SunGard, Delta Airlines, Nationwide and McGraw-Hill Financial, among others, and heard informative and entertaining expert sessions and keynote addresses. Capping a successful week, almost 90 percent of attendees reported that plan to attend next year as well.

Conference goers were also treated to a party to be remembered at the legendary House of Blues in the Mandalay Bay Hotel. And, throughout the conference Serena encouraged attendees to take part in its IT Agility Deserves a Beer social media contest providing an opportunity for anyone on Twitter to share a creative Haiku expressing thanks for the IT agility method.

As the conference wrapped up, Serena honored customers who have done extraordinary things with its technology over the past year. 2012 Tech Innovation Award winners included:

• Katherine Chu of Navy Federal Credit Union, winner of The Best Orchestrated App Delivery Award;
• Peter Rizzo of Interactive Data Corp, winner of the Orchestrated Operations Award;
• Matt Stratton of Apartments.com, winner of the Most Success with Serena Orchestrated IT Award.
