IRVINE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/25/12 -- Solarflare, the leader in application-intelligent 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) networking software and hardware, today announced the launch of its Partner Network for the Solarflare ApplicationOnLoad Engine (AOE). Created to bring together AOE application developers as well as field-programmable gate array (FPGA) design services, tools vendors and intellectual property (IP) core providers, the program will accelerate the creation and deployment of Customized Compute and transform the way networks process data.
This launch of Solarflare's AOE Partner Network marks the immediate availability of the company's AOE platform and AOE Firmware Development Kit (FDK) including interface specifications for third parties to develop and customize accelerated, real-time applications. The program will enhance the adoption of AOE as the open platform for accelerating network applications. The Partner Network provides Solarflare's partners with development and test tools as well as technical support. The Network also promotes partner products and services to customers and to other development partners, and provides end customers with an ecosystem of AOE development partners.
"Leveraging our high-performance 28-nm Stratix V FPGA, Solarflare has created a comprehensive firmware development kit that provides a straightforward integrated application development environment," said Jeff Waters, senior vice president and general manager of the Military, Industrial and Computing Division of Altera. "With its ApplicationOnLoad Engine, Solarflare is delivering an integrated application on-load solution that enables application processing to be moved directly to the network adapter for lower latency, CPU offload or compliance."
"We are thrilled to offer our customers support for Solarflare's open FPGA platform with a seamless, low-latency network interface. Impulse Accelerated brings FPGA design experience and Impulse tools allowing for developers to focus on the application," said Brian Durwood, co-founder and chief executive officer, of Impulse Accelerated.
Launched earlier this year, Solarflare's ApplicationOnload Engine represents the next step in the evolution of application acceleration and places Solarflare on the leading edge of the wave of Customized Compute. The AOE offers programmable, customizable silicon that allows for the proliferation of applications directly on server adapters that will exponentially increase network performance and greatly reduce CPU loads. Customized Compute transforms the way networks process data, overcoming performance obstacles that cannot be solved by simply adding more processors. This breakthrough technology impacts several market segments, including financial services, government, security, and others.
"Our customers need access to a comprehensive set of FPGA tools, services, and sources of IP as well as third-party applications," said Bruce Tolley, vice president of solutions marketing at Solarflare. "The AOE Partner Network supports our growing number of third-party application development partners and gives our end customers access to the tools and services to support their own application development. We are excited by the opportunity to collaborate with industry veterans and application vendors who are working to leverage Solarflare's open AOE platform."
