(NASDAQ: PFPT), a leading security-as-a-service provider, today announced that its Protection and Privacy suites will be integrated into General Dynamics Information Technology's cloud-based Email-as-a-Service (EaaS) solution for the federal and health markets.

Proofpoint's Protection and Privacy suites are integrated with General Dynamics Information Technology's GSA EaaS offering, built on VMware Zimbra® Collaboration Server. Proofpoint has integrated their solution with the VMware Zimbra platform with Zimlets for spam reporting and email encryption. This offering enables compliance with data security regulations, such as the Federal Risk and Authorization Program (FedRAMP), the Federal Information Security and Management Act (FISMA), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH), as well as the myriad of State privacy laws (MA, CA, etc).

The federal market for cloud-based email solutions is important. In 2011, the U.S. Chief Information Officer of Federal Government was quoted in Government Technology that more than 950,000 federal mailboxes have been specifically identified for eventual migration to the cloud.
