MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/27/12 -- Quixey, The Search Engine for Apps, today announced its partnership with Skyfire in the launch of Skyfire Horizon, the next-generation mobile browser extension platform. For the first time, with the Quixey integration, mobile users can instantly find apps relevant to the content they're browsing and search for apps directly within the mobile browser experience. The toolbar is embedded in Android browsers by participating carriers, bringing a new level of intelligence to app discovery on mobile.
With the click of the "Apps" button, Quixey returns apps that are relevant to the current webpage. For example, when a user is reading ESPN, Quixey will recommend ESPN ScoreCenter, WatchESPN, CBS Sports and other highly relevant apps. Now mobile users can easily find contextually relevant apps by simply clicking a button.
Users are also presented with a Quixey search bar at the top of the apps page. Quixey's Functional Search is intuitive -- people simply search for what they want to do, and Quixey finds apps that can help. For example, "find cheap gas," "entertain a 3 year old" or "identify what song is playing." With Quixey's search, users can easily find apps throughout their web browsing experience.
"People are constantly surfing the web, and now there's an easy way to find apps that are highly relevant to their day to day lives," said Tomer Kagan, CEO of Quixey. "The Quixey and Skyfire partnership enables mobile users on Android to seamlessly find apps related to the content they are already browsing. With the Skyfire Horizon toolbar, extremely useful apps are now quickly and easily accessible."
Skyfire Horizon, the world's leading browser extension platform, also offers one-click access to the Web's most popular sites like Facebook, Twitter, Yelp, Wikipedia, IMDB and Amazon, among many others. The platform leverages Blue Kangaroo to allow users to receive alerts for deals from the brands they visit, recommendations of related offers, and coupon codes, and embeds Readability for content bookmarking.
Through carrier partnerships, Horizon will come preloaded onto mobile devices nationwide. "We're thrilled to be bringing Skyfire Horizon to millions of customers by being embedded within carrier-marketed handsets," said Jeffrey Glueck, CEO of Skyfire.
