EDMONTON, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/03/12 -- F12 proudly announced today its partnership with Innovative Canadians for Change (ICChange), and direct support in the Kibera Medical Record Initiative (KMRI). This initiative aims to introduce an efficient electronic health system by way of 93 clinics and hospitals which serve a population of approximately 800,000 people.
F12 has provided IT services to Alberta's medical community for more than 8 years. Programs that F12 facilitates such as Service Plus will be able to provide a suitable environment for end-of-life equipment which will be re- purposed for further life as part of the ICChange KMRI. In addition to providing hardware for this initiative, F12 will work with the development team to ensure hardware integration is optimized. This will include testing and facilities to conduct live simulations. F12 will also sponsor two resources to participate in the initial deployment of the solution at the test facilities in Kibera which is scheduled for November.
"The spirit of this endeavor is around sustainability, allowing Kibera the ability to maintain and manage this project with their infrastructure and resources. Leveraging technology is what F12 does best, and to use this ability to allow Doctors to have patient information at their fingertips is very fulfilling. This in turn will help to provide patients with better care and a higher quality of life." Calvin Engen, Director of I.T., F12 Networks
"We are excited to have such a strong and committed partner in F12 Networks for developing and testing the medical records network and leveraging their partners to ensure the sustainability of the Kibera Medical Records Initiative. Their contributions will have a direct impact on the people of Kibera, and importantly help create a scalable model for other parts of the country and globally. They are true champions in Corporate Social Responsibility." Abdullah Saleh, Chief Executive Director, ICChange
About Innovative Canadians for Change (ICChange)
ICChange is an Alberta based not-for-profit organization. As an umbrella organization, it provides interdisciplinary services to over half-a-dozen initiatives, such as the well-established Kenya Ceramic Project (KCP) that creates and supports sustainable access to clean drinking water in the Western part of Kenya. By developing new technologies, fostering new relationships, and establishing creative projects, ICChange is connecting with other influential non- profit organizations, businesses, universities, and governmental bodies. The mission and philosophy of Innovative Canadians for Change (ICChange) is to improve the quality of life and security of vulnerable populations through tangible collaborations with partners to build capacity for both effective community support and sustainability of initiatives. ICChange creates a framework for evolving innovative ideas into reality. Each model uses appropriate technologies, systems, and processes in order to test a hypothesis through implementation. Once sufficient research and baseline assessments are complete, culturally appropriate means are taken to implement the strategy. Ongoing evaluations are instituted as each project is implemented, thereby enhancing best practices for future ICChange models of sustainable development. In these ways, projects ultimately function independently of ICChange through dependable community uptake by local partners.
