MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/22/12 -- Today, the Canadian Automotive Jury announced that the Porsche Boxster and 911 Carrera S were picked among the 12 best cars of 2013.

Since 2010, the Canadian Automotive Jury releases its annual "Best of Best Finalists", including the previous year's winner. The panel, composed of 11 senior automobile journalist members, selects vehicles based on their inherent qualities and significance in the marketplace.

Completely redesigned for 2013, the Boxster range is powered by a more powerful and efficient duo of mid-mounted horizontally-opposed six cylinder engines. The Boxster's 2.7 litre unit produces 265 hp while the Boxster S offers a 3.4 litre version generating 315 hp. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h can be completed in as little as 5 seconds. Fuel consumption is as low as 6.2 l/ per 100 km on the highway, making the latest Boxster the most fuel efficient passenger vehicle ever offered by Porsche in Canada.

Now in its seventh generation, the newest 911 offers advanced technologies such as the world's first seven-speed manual transmission. Two new engines are offered, a 3.4 litre and a 3.8 flat-six, producing 350 and 400 hp, respectively. All feature direct fuel injection and an auto start/stop system which help this new sports car achieve fuel economy as low as 7 L/100 km according to Transport Canada highway figures.

The Boxster and 911 Carrera are now eligible for the Canadian Automotive Jury "2013 Best of Best" award. Each of the 12 vehicles will be vying for the top award. The recipient of this distinction will be announced at the Montreal Auto Show in January 2013.
