MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 04/17/12 -- Tintri, Inc., the leading producer of purpose-built, VM-aware storage appliances, today announced continued momentum for its Tintri VMstore product among both new and existing customers. The company added more than 30 customers in Q1 2012, continuing on its strong acceleration path from 2011 -- its first year on the market. Tintri now has over 70 customers worldwide from a diverse array of industry verticals, including healthcare, finance, manufacturing, legal, education, and technology. Many of Tintri's customers now use a single Tintri VMstore appliance to support more than 100 virtual machines (VMs). The average VM workload running on each VMstore appliance more than doubled in Q1 compared to 2011 -- and one of the largest current deployments is running more than 700 VMs on just one Tintri VMstore appliance.
"This past quarter again saw an exponential spike in growth in terms of both customers and the number of VMs in production on each customer system, which offers powerful validation of the explosive demand for VM-aware storage," said Kieran Harty, Tintri CEO. "Enterprise IT departments have exhibited a clear demand for a cost-effective, purpose-built storage solution that supports hundreds of virtual machines and other enterprise class capabilities. Our VM-aware storage approach has emerged as a powerful alternative to legacy storage hardware and it's poised to drive us to even greater growth in 2012 and beyond."
New customers added in the recent months represent growth in a diverse range of verticals and geographies, including:
"I was looking for a solution that was virtualization-centric and would be simple to manage as part of our VDI implementation, and Tintri's VM-aware storage appliance was the perfect fit," said Tim Washburn, a VMware vExpert and system engineer at Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice. "We chose Tintri to support our VMware View VDI deployment of 180 VMs to provide remote access to our attorneys and staff. Tintri VMstore provides us with storage that's simple, easy to use, and saves us from potentially lengthy troubleshooting episodes."
More and more, customers are using Tintri to support large-scale virtualization deployments and realizing significant economic and time savings over traditional shared storage solutions. While Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) continues to be one of the leading use cases for Tintri VMstore, customers also deployed Tintri to support databases, test and development environments and Microsoft Exchange.
This news comes on the heels of the company's January 2012 announcement of 100% quarter-over-quarter growth in 2011, Tintri's first year on the market. Tintri also recently announced key software updates to Tintri VMstore, including advanced cloning capabilities and VAAI support.
