BELLEVUE, WA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/30/12 -- Apptio, the leading provider of on-demand Technology Business Management (TBM) solutions, today announced the appointment of Brett Helsel as senior vice president of engineering operations. Formerly with F5 Networks and Isilon, Helsel will oversee the design and delivery of products supporting Apptio's TBM strategy, and will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team.
"As we accelerate our growth into a large-scale enterprise technology company, we must continue to attract top talent from around the industry," said Sunny Gupta, co-founder, president and CEO of Apptio. "Brett brings tremendous depth and experience leading teams that build market-leading products, and his strong customer focus will make him a key contributor to the continued success of our business."
Prior to joining Apptio, Helsel ran engineering efforts at Isilon Systems (acquired by EMC in 2010 for $2.5 billion), where his product vision and high-performance leadership contributed to an eight-fold increase in revenue during his tenure. His professional background includes similar, high-impact roles as president and CEO of Lockdown Networks (a provider of enterprise security technology) and chief technology officer and senior vice president of product development at F5 Networks, where he helped the company become a market-share leader and one of the most successful initial public offerings of 1999.
"Apptio has quickly established serious traction as the market-leader and creator of the TBM category, largely because of the company's intense focus on making its customers successful," said Helsel. "Maintaining that focus and intensifying its impact on product development will be like adding jet fuel to a high-performance growth engine -- the potential is staggering."
Helsel holds a BS in geophysics and oceanography from the Florida Institute of Technology, and an executive Management Certificate from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington.
