SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/31/12 -- Embarcadero Technologies announced today that John "JT" Thomas, Director of Product Management, will present "Do You C What I C?: The Resurgence of Native Applications" at the QCon International Software Development Conference. QCon is designed for team leads, architects, and project management and is organized by the community, for the community. The event will be held in San Francisco from Nov. 7-9, 2012.
What:
Long time developers remember when C/C++ was the primary language of systems development. While languages and frameworks like Java and C#/.Net have made inroads, C++ has never really gone away. The ability to create small and fast native executables with full system access is a core strength of C++ and key for the embedded systems application market which powers many of the popular devices we all use daily -- iPhones, Androids and now Windows 8. In each of these operating systems C/C++ is alive and well, as all of them are built with a C foundation within their respective kernels and core system services. For application developers, iOS and Mac OS X presents Objective-C (with built-in support for CLANG C++), Android delivers C/C++ through their NDK, and, of course, Windows 8 presents C++ as its primary native language.
For application developers who wish to use a common language across all three of these major mobile operating systems and their desktop counterparts Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows 8 Desktop, C++ has re-emerged as the language of choice for native developers.
