AJAX, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 11/01/12 -- The month of October proved to be a very successful one for Volkswagen Canada, which reported its best-ever sales results. A total of 5,777 cars and light trucks were delivered by the country's 136 dealers, representing a 25% increase over the same month last year (4,628). Year-to-date, the figures are just as positive, with 50,696 new Volkswagens sold bettering last year's total by 13%.

During the month, a number of 2013 models arrived at Canadian Dealerships including the Beetle, which is now available with Volkswagen's award-winning TDI Clean Diesel engine.

"Volkswagen is the market leader in TDI Clean Diesel technology," stated John White, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group Canada. "We are very pleased to expand the availability of this engine to our recently redesigned Beetle. This gives customers another choice if they are looking for an extremely fuel efficient and fun-to-drive car."

The TDI Clean Diesel engine is also available on the Jetta, Golf, Golf Wagon, Passat and Touareg models. These engines are but one example of Volkswagen's "Bluemotion Technologies," and part of Volkswagen's worldwide "Think Blue" environmental stewardship initiative.
