BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/06/13 -- uTest, the world's leading provider of in-the-wild software testing services, has been listed at number eight on Forbes' annual ranking of America's Most Promising Companies -- a list of one hundred privately held, high-growth companies with bright futures. The top fifty companies on the list appear in the February 11 print issue of Forbes and the complete list -- and a slideshow of the top twenty-five -- can be seen on the Forbes website.
For the Most Promising list, Forbes strove for a holistic gauge of young, privately-held companies, trying to pin down their trajectories by looking at a slew of variables. Over the course of six months Forbes reviewed thousands of applications. The final assessment is based on growth (both in sales and hiring), quality of management team and investors, margins, market size and key partnerships.
Since 2008, uTest has raised $37MM in funding, achieved an astounding growth rate of 8,284% and expanded from 11 to over 120 employees. The company recently announced that the mobile app testing portion of its business increased 5X over the last 12 months.
"Being named by Forbes as the eighth Most Promising Company in America is a great honor," said uTest CEO, Doron Reuveni. "This is another validation of our vision and execution, but more importantly, it demonstrates how important in-the-wild testing and explicit app analytics are for producing high-quality apps. Given how vital it is to companies that their apps work flawlessly in the hands of users, uTest is extremely well-positioned for expansive growth."
Thousands of brands -- including Google, USA Today, Amazon, Virgin, Sony, Box and Trulia -- have adopted uTest to meet the real-world testing needs of their web and mobile apps. With 70,000 professional testers in 190 countries, uTest enables companies to test their apps under real-world conditions across OS, browsers, carriers, devices, locations and other criteria.
uTest's inclusion on the list comes just days after the company announced that it is extending its reach beyond testing by formally announcing its innovation arm uTest Labs and that arm's most recent product, unprecedented mobile app analytics tool Applause. The company was also recently named a finalist for Best Enterprise Mobile Service by the Global Mobile Awards, and just last August announced the acquisition of mobile app tools company Apphance in a seven-figure deal.
