The release bundles Radiant Logic's Cloud Federation Service with VDS, delivering a standards-based federated identity and access management solution. As a comprehensive identity provider, RadiantOne virtualizes identities across data sources into a single logical access point and connects them securely to cloud applications using SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect, and OAuth 2.0.

RadiantOne's Cloud Federation Service (CFS) received substantial upgrades in the current release, complementing previous editions' robust SAML 2.0 support with enhanced OpenID Connect and OAuth 2.0 capabilities, and bringing pre-made connectors for scores of popular cloud applications. These upgrades to CFS allow administrators to establish trust with third-party identity providers -- including social networks such as Facebook, Google+, and Twitter -- for single sign-on. CFS also now supports just-in-time provisioning of user accounts, while VDS's new support for SCIM, REST, and enhanced SPML enable robust bulk user provisioning operations to cloud applications.

The RadiantOne federated identity service functions as a layer of abstraction for identity data sources. The contents of all an organization's Active Directory forests, LDAP repositories, and SQL databases are virtualized and rationalized. Data from social networks and other identity providers is added to build a complete profile of each user. The service tailors and remaps that identity data for each unique application's consumption, creating security tokens that contain all the identity data an application needs to authenticate and authorize users. With identity data translated to meet the needs of each application, cloud and legacy applications are shielded from the complexity of an organization's identity infrastructure, making services such as single sign-on possible.
