AJAX, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 04/02/13 -- The month of March came in like a lion and went out in similar fashion for Volkswagen Canada. The company sold a total of 5,884 new cars and light trucks during the month, making it their fifteenth consecutive month of record results. Sales for the company were 16% higher than during the same period last year (5,064). The year's first quarter has produced sales of 13,168 for Volkswagen.

The Jetta continues to carry the load for Volkswagen, with 3,001 sold last month. Year-to-date sales of the Jetta, which is now priced from just $14,990, are up by 41%.

Just as the Jetta has been priced in the heart of its segment, the Volkswagen Tiguan compact sport utility has recently undergone a price drop of almost $3,000. Now available from a starting price of under $25,000, the Tiguan combines the style and performance of the iconic GTI along with the rugged good looks and carrying capacity of a sport utility vehicle.

The new seventh generation Golf, which will be coming to Canada in 2014, was named "World Car of the Year 2013" just last week by a jury of 66 motoring journalists from 23 countries at the New York Autoshow.
