SAN RAMON, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/23/13 -- Accela, Inc., the leading provider of civic solutions for government agencies, today announced the availability of innovative mobile capabilities as part of the Civic Cloud. Built on Accela's leading platform, apps for productivity as well as citizen and community engagement are now available to connect governments directly to people and businesses in order to streamline and improve accessibility of government services.
"We believe citizens should be able to collaborate with government officials to make their neighborhoods and communities better places to live and work. These innovations and new partnerships combine our strengths to deliver unrivalled civic reach and scale." said Maury Blackman, President and CEO of Accela, Inc. "Through the Civic Cloud, citizens can now report and track problems, manage their government business activities and actively engage directly with others in their communities. Ultimately, our goal is to foster civic good by helping ordinary people build extraordinary communities."
Productivity: Bolstered by the momentum across government agencies to offer mobile- and web-based capabilities for field workers, Accela has seen rapid adoption of productivity apps including Accela Inspector, Accela Work Crew and Accela Code Officer. In recent months, Accela has seen:
Accela is also working with partners like CityGovApp to build and deliver agency-specific solutions for service management and productivity, including a 311 mobile and web dashboard, Manhole Inspection, Rental Property Inspection, Garage Sale Permitting and more.
"The Civic Cloud enables us to quickly and cost-effectively build and deploy mobile solutions that meet individual agency requirements. More importantly, we can offer those innovations to a large and growing family of agencies across North America and around the world," said Azmat Tanauli, CEO, CityGovApp.
Citizens: Expanding upon a track record of engaging citizens with innovative technology and capabilities, Accela is announcing the beta availability of Civic Hero, enabling agencies to engage entire communities with an innovative mobile application that empowers citizens to report non-emergency community issues such as graffiti, potholes, or damaged public property to local government. From their smartphones, citizens simply select the type of issue they're reporting, snap a quick photo or add a comment and they're done. Citizens can also review and track comments reported by others. Agencies receive the reports that pertain specifically to them, and can track and address service requests in their Accela solutions.
Additionally, Accela has signed a partnership agreement with SeeClickFix to provide their citizen-based apps to Accela customers. A CRM that plugs into existing request management tools, SeeClickFix leverages crowdsourcing, web, and mobile apps to help you effectively respond to community issues.
All of these apps leverage CivicID, Accela's identity management capability that addresses the needs of agencies and citizens. They are all showcased and are available for download in the Civic Store or in the app stores for respective mobile devices.
"As a service that has so many mutual clients with Accela, we're thrilled to provide such an easy-to-use app for cities, citizens, and government employees that perfectly integrates with Accela's back-office solutions," said Ben Berkowitz, CEO and Co-Founder, SeeClickFix.
Community: Accela is working closely with developers as well as organizations like Code for America and Tumml to build and deliver apps that make it easier to do business with government and address key community issues. Along with the launch of the Civic Cloud, Accela is excited to announce the general availability of Civic Insight, a citizen-facing web app that turns complex government data about a city's underutilized spaces into clear and actionable information, empowering citizens and local organizations to collaborate more effectively with agency staff to improve their neighborhoods.
"We're thrilled about our partnership with Accela, and look forward to making Civic Insight available to Accela's agency customers to help them communicate and collaborate more effectively with their citizens," says Alex Pandel, Civic Insight's Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer.
These mobile applications can be deployed on leading mobile platforms including iOS and Android. Accela is also collaborating with Microsoft to bring Civic Hero and Accela Inspector to Windows 8. For more information on Accela's apps, including Civic Hero, visit www.accela.com/civic-apps.
