SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/06/13 -- Nexgate, an innovator in social media brand protection and compliance, today announced the expansion of its advisory and executive leadership team with the addition of Kevin Barenblat as an Advisor, Dan Nadir as Vice President of Product Management and David Meizlik as Vice President of Marketing.
The expansion of Nexgate's leadership comes as social media brand protection and compliance has rapidly become a concern for enterprise organizations. Just recently, five leading brands -- NPR, FIFA, CBS 60 Minutes, CBS 48 Hours, and The Associated Press -- all suffered attacks to their social media accounts.
Nexgate offers a first-of-its kind, cloud-based social media security and compliance service. The company's products help enterprise brands discover their social media accounts, prevent social account hacks and abusive content, manage access and applications, and ensure regulatory compliance.
"Dan, Dave, and Kevin bring a wealth of product, marketing, and social media expertise to Nexgate," said Devin Redmond, Co-founder and CEO of Nexgate. "Their appointment adds significant depth to our leadership team, and together with our recent funding round led by Sierra Ventures, will further accelerate Nexgate's product innovation and market momentum in social media security and compliance."
Kevin Barenblat is a recognized expert in social marketing. Most recently, he co-founded and served as CEO of Context Optional (now Adobe Social), a pioneering social marketing software company that introduced the industry's first social media management system. Prior to co-founding Context Optional, Kevin served in marketing and strategy roles for a number of San Francisco Bay area companies and at the leading strategy and consulting firm, Boston Consulting Group.
Dan Nadir has held a variety of executive product management positions in enterprise security. Dan was formerly Vice President of Product Management at several groundbreaking security companies, including SaaS web security provider ScanSafe (Cisco), SaaS e-mail security pioneer FrontBridge (Microsoft), Breach Security (Trustwave), and he has held technical/product management positions at Internet Security Systems (IBM) and Tivoli (IBM). Most recently, Dan was senior director of product management for Symantec's SMB product line and Norton's core consumer security solutions, Norton Internet Security, Norton AntiVirus and Norton 360.
Dave Meizlik is a marketing veteran with more than a decade of experience bringing innovative new security products and companies to market. Before joining Nexgate, Dave served as Vice President of Marketing & Business Development at Dome9 Security, a leading cloud security management service. He also served as Director of Product Marketing and Communications at Websense, a leader in unified content security, and as the head of Microsoft programs at New Horizons, the world's largest independent IT training company. Dave is a recognized security expert and has advised some the world's largest enterprises, including more than half the Fortune 50, on cloud, information, and social media security.
