VICTORIA, BC and MANCHESTER, NH -- (Marketwired) -- 05/07/13 --
UNIT4 Business Software, the North American subsidiary of UNIT4 (EURONEXT AMSTERDAM: UNIT4), the global cloud-focused business software group, announced today that UNIT4 has signed an agreement with Amazon.com which will see the Group extend its portfolio of cloud locations through the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform. The initial focus of the partnership is the North American region where AWS meets the security standards demanded by North American companies.
Under the agreement UNIT4, which provides software and services to Businesses Living in Change (BLINC), becomes an Amazon Technology & Consulting partner. It will develop consultancy and technical support aimed at deploying AWS as a flexible, scalable on-demand cloud platform for its customers.
Globally, UNIT4 has built strong expertise in cloud computing. Currently its flagship Agresso and Coda solutions are offered through UNIT4's own robust and proven infrastructure from several locations throughout the world. This partnership complements and extends UNIT4's existing services to better meet the different legislative and operational requirements of clients all over the world.
Amazon Web Services is a fast growing cloud and development platform. Amazon is able to maintain low fees by using scalable and standard components. Many cloud service providers offer traditional components as a service; Amazon.com innovates and offers comprehensive cloud services.
Shelley Zapp, president of UNIT4 Business Software in North America, commented: "This partnership combines UNIT4's leadership in providing business solutions with Amazon's expertise in cloud delivery. We can provide organizations with choice and flexibility -- both in software and deployment -- and we can fulfil the reliability, security and cost expectations of our North American customers."
By connecting to the existing AWS platform, UNIT4 is able to expand its cloud services and comply with the rules and regulations of the US government, without the need to build its own datacenter location and operations. As a result customers will benefit from the economies of scale offered by the UNIT4 Cloud.
UNIT4's certified consultants can advise customers about gaining maximum advantage from Amazon Web Services. These consultants have knowledge of hybrid cloud architectures and the deployment and management of software on Amazon's cloud platform. The partnership with Amazon.com extends the capability of UNIT4's hybrid computing services, which is a mix of on-premises, private and shared cloud services. Importantly UNIT4's customers will have just one point of contact for service levels, billing, contracts and support which will ensure service levels are maintained.
In addition, Amazon's philosophy is to offer its partners the technology to develop their own specific services that meet business requirements regarding availability, security, architecture and integration.
