SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/07/13 -- Relaborate, a new content creation, management, and distribution engine designed for brands, today announced the appointment of Grant Gavares as Chief Technology Officer. The Relaborate SaaS platform enables companies and agencies to improve the quality, ease, and efficacy of their content marketing programs by unlocking the expertise and knowledge across the organization. As Relaborate's CTO, Gavares will be responsible for architecting the SaaS-based application so it can be deployed at scale across companies. The Relaborate Platform, as of today, is also now available for public beta at www.relaborate.com.

Prior to joining Relaborate, Gavares was an early lead software engineer at Apptio, one of the fastest growing enterprise software companies in the Northwest. During his three-year tenure, Gavares designed and developed Apptio's software deployment and lifecycle management system and also was instrumental in defining the next generation distributed platform, enabling the company to scale its application to meet the challenges of the modern enterprise. As one of the early software development engineers hired on the Amazon Web Services team, Gavares was responsible for the design and development of the AWS data warehouse and developed operational back-end and portal systems, including a multi-petabyte indexing and storage system as well as the AWS Metering system.

Gavares, along with other key members of the Amazon Technologies team, was awarded two patents in 2012: Patent #8,312,037, a dynamic tree determination for data processing as well as Patent #8,150,889, a method by which data can be processed in parallel across a cluster of nodes using a parallel processing framework. Gavares received his BA in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Texas.
