LOS GATOS, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/22/13 -- Pertino, a company reinventing networking for the cloud era, today announced the appointment of software and cloud infrastructure expert Ronn Brashear to vice president of engineering. Brashear joins Pertino on the heels of a successful limited availability launch of its Cloud Network Engine service in February 2013 and will play a vital role in preparing the company for general availability later this year. He brings proven service delivery and large-scale cloud platform and infrastructure experience that is paramount to realizing Pertino's disruptive vision for SDN-powered, cloud-based networks.
"Our vision for cloud networking virtualizes and shifts many of today's hardware-based network functions and services into the cloud where customers can use Pertino's Cloud Network Engine to build secure networks anywhere with unprecedented speed and simplicity," said Craig Elliott, CEO and co-founder of Pertino. "Ronn's accomplishments and unique experience spanning software development, cloud infrastructure, and devops disciplines make him the ideal executive to lead the realization of our cloud platform vision."
Brashear brings over 15 years of software and infrastructure engineering experience to Pertino and has a remarkable track record of building highly reliable and scalable as-a-service solutions. Most recently, Brashear served as vice president of engineering at XDN, a provider of cloud-based Content Delivery Network (CDN) and Application Delivery Controller (ADC) services that was recently acquired by Fortinet. He also held senior engineering positions at OnLive, LiveOps, and Tellme Networks (acquired by Microsoft in 2007). Brashear began his career in software development at Austin Decisions where he wrote, tested, and delivered the first version of the product in just six months.
"My favorite opportunities are early-stage companies where I can apply my experience developing and delivering innovative, scalable and reliable services to capture compelling new market opportunities," said Ronn Brashear, newly appointed vice president of engineering for Pertino. "Pertino is a perfect fit; the technology is brilliant, the team is exceptional, and the opportunity to bring networking into the cloud era is incredible."
Brashear earned his doctorate in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
About Pertino
Founded in 2011, Pertino has an inspired vision for reinventing networking for the cloud era, and in the process, being a catalyst for democratizing IT for small-to-medium businesses. Globalization, cloud-enabled IT, and growing demand for always-connected people, devices, and things is affecting businesses of all sizes -- making the "outside network" as critical as the inside one. However, traditional wide-area networks have not kept pace. Pertino's revolutionary Cloud Network Engine enables any business to build a simple and secure cloud-based network that connects people and IT resources from anywhere on the planet. No new hardware. No expertise. No upfront investment. To achieve this breakthrough, Pertino has developed a software platform that combines the power and pervasiveness of the cloud with Software-defined Network (SDN) and network virtualization technology, and a social-inspired user management paradigm. The company is venture funded and headquartered in Los Gatos, Calif. For more information or to try Pertino for yourself, please visit pertino.com.
