SILVER SPRING, MD -- (Marketwire) -- 05/02/12 -- AIIM, the global community of information professionals, today announced the formation of the new Executive Leadership Council to examine the consumerization of IT from the vantage point of the information user. Top thinkers, high-performance practitioners and industry leaders from organizations including Boeing, Box, IBM, McDonalds, Oracle, and Walt Disney Company will convene in London on May 24 and 25 and in Chicago on June 6 and 7 to break the mold on conventional thinking and inform public knowledge of how to manage the pervasive shift of consumer influence in the enterprise. The Council will also meet in London on September 6 and 7 and in Dallas on November 29 and 30 to explore big data and its impact on buyer behavior.
The Council's focus on the consumerization of IT will help enterprises move from rigidly-controlled to more naturally-working processes given how the current influx of social technologies, mobile devices and cloud computing is affecting business performance. The group will also explore emerging new skills requirements in the workplace and question if critical transformational technologies are being overlooked.
Thornton May, futurist, executive director and dean of the IT Leadership Academy, will be the master facilitator of the AIIM Executive Leadership Council work sessions. Sessions will debate issues, explore options, share experiences, identify obstacles and recommend best practices to move the industry forward.
"As one of our industry's acclaimed futurists, Thornton brings enormous insight to this age of disruption," said AIIM President John Mancini. "We look forward to having him facilitate the discussion among the top-tier industry experts and market leaders of our council to help enlighten and empower new ways of work for information professionals around the world."
AIIM Executive Leadership Council guidance, insight and recommendations will be broadly distributed to the global information professional community through a series of white papers, solution guides and essential toolkits.
