SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/11/13 -- Engine Yard, the leading Platform as a Service (PaaS), today announced that Rob Walters has been appointed as the company's new CTO. Walters will play a major role in shaping the company's technology strategy as Engine Yard continues its worldwide expansion in the growing cloud market.

A proven leader of product management, marketing and engineering teams in the cloud and enterprise software markets, Walters has more than 20 years experience working for major international firms. Most recently he spent three years as vice president of Cloud Product, Managed Services at Sungard Availability Services, a Fortune 500 company with revenues of more than $1 billion. Prior to joining Sungard, Walters was general manager of the Cloud Services & Storage and Data Protection Business Units at The Planet, which merged with SoftLayer in 2010. His career also includes product management roles at Rackspace Hosting Inc., Hewlett-Packard, EMC Corp. and American Express. Walters earned a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Westminster and a Master's of Science degree in Computing Science from University of London, both located in London, U.K. He also earned a Master's of Business Administration degree in High Tech Marketing from Cornell University.
