SUNNYVALE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/18/13 -- zSpace, Inc., a technology provider that is transforming the future of human-computer interaction, announced today that software partner Mechdyne, provider of visual information technologies, has released their latest version of CATIA Driver for Visualization and Interaction (CDVi) supporting the zSpace, Inc.'s 3D virtual-holographic platform, zSpace. With this release, virtual reality devices in V5 applications can easily take advantage of zSpace's highly realistic immersive 3D environment.
Mechdyne software solutions enable V5 applications (Catia, Delmia, Enovia, Simulia) to operate natively on PC cluster computers and within virtual reality environments without any change to the V5 application. The Company's CDVi product enables V5 users to run natively on immersive visualization systems, eliminating the expense and risk of data porting.
Through this collaboration, zSpace users are able to create and review V5 data right from their desktop, and experience their application in a visually stunning, immersive 3D environment. With zSpace's tracking eyewear and direct interaction stylus, the platform enables users to work in six degrees of freedom, making the experience look and feel real while allowing them to physically manipulate data in 3D, and discover patterns that might not be recognized in a traditional 2D environment.
"zSpace enables us to provide our user base with an interactive and immersive platform that is extremely complimentary to our software," said Julien Berta, VP Innovation & Technology, Mechdyne. "We strive to provide our customers with the most advanced technology available, and we are eager to see new, highly advanced workflows based on V5 come to fruition as a result of this compatibility."
"We are thrilled to empower Mechdyne's vast V5 user base to take advantage of the immersive zSpace experience," said Dave Chavez, CTO, zSpace, Inc. "As one of the most recognized companies selling immersive technology, we think this is a great opportunity to encourage developers to embrace a new platform that brings enhanced realism to their work. The increased fidelity of the zSpace experience can bring efficiencies to a variety of industries ranging from energy to manufacturing and scientific research."
A wide spectrum of mainstream industries can reap the benefits of virtual realism for product styling, interactive simulations, architectural walkthroughs, product experience and training.
