AUSTIN, TX -- (Marketwired) -- 07/29/13 -- In its role as the leading advocate for the Central Texas technology community, the Austin Technology Council (ATC) today reaffirmed the Council's immediate and long-term responsibilities for ensuring the advancement of Austin as a global hub for technology innovation. Following a conclusive annual CEO Summit and a comprehensive strategic assessment of the needs and strengths of the regional tech community, ATC has outlined a series of goals to continue fostering the Austin technology industry.

Specifically, ATC is focused on the following three priorities for 2013-2014:

I. Assessing and implementing solutions to create a strong technical talent pipeline
II. Strengthening Austin's capital position and influence as a leading technology hub
III. Establishing benchmarks for success and conducting regular economic assessments to be shared with stakeholders

To provide additional support to pursuing these priorities, ATC has also:

• Added the following board directors:
  • Dennis Howard, head of global business and platform solutions for VISA
  • Kevin Callahan, co-founder of and vice president of innovation and strategy for MapMyFitness
  • Joe Hewell, regional managing director of Wells Fargo
  • Cindy Walker Peach, Ph.D, biosciences director for the Austin Technology Incubator
• Created a strategic alliance with economic research firm, Civic Analytics, to provide assessment and reporting functions that increase awareness about Central Texas opportunities and challenges to support tech growth;
• Developed the following Advisory Councils to provide additional industry insight and direction:
  • Talent
  • Capital
  • Life Science
  • Stakeholder Development
