AJAX, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 08/01/13 -- Another strong month of sales has produced another record for Volkswagen Canada. The month of July saw the company sell 5,107 new cars and light trucks at its 136 Canadian dealerships. This was 6% above last year's total of 4,807 and marks the nineteenth consecutive record-setting month. Year-to-date sales of 36,444 are 8% over last year (33,669).

"Once again, it is a matter of having the right product at the right price," stated Maria Stenstrom, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group Canada. "Consumers demand quality, value and fuel efficiency and are unwilling to sacrifice on style and comfort. Volkswagen is able to deliver on all counts."

Sales of the Jetta led the way for the company, with 2,347 sold last month. The Jetta's success is in great part due to the variety of available engines. Three different gasoline engines, TDI Clean Diesel, and a Turbocharged Hybrid ensure that there is a Jetta for every taste.

With TDI Clean Diesel technology available on six different models, Volkswagen is able to offer outstanding fuel efficiency, without sacrificing drivability, interior space or cargo capacity.
