AUSTIN, TX -- (Marketwired) -- 08/15/13 -- Vijaykrishnan Narayanan, Ph.D., Professor at Pennsylvania State University, has been appointed as Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Computer Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems (TCAD) for a two-year term beginning January 1, 2014. Charles J. Alpert, Ph.D., Design Closure Manager of IBM T.J. Watson Research Center has been appointed as the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of TCAD for the same term.

The appointment, ratified by the Executive Committee of the IEEE Council on Electronic Design Automation (CEDA), was determined by a review of the journal needs. The selection "ensures a balance between system-level expertise, as reflected by Professor Narayanan's background, and back-end expertise as reflected by Dr. Alpert's," stated Donatella Sciuto, President of CEDA.

"In addition to maintaining traditional strengths such as quality of reviews and quick turn-around time for reviews, I plan to increase awareness among researchers who work on interdisciplinary areas and draw them to the TCAD community," stated Professor Narayanan. "The journal sits at the center of the entire design automation community. It serves a critical role in the advancement of knowledge in our field. I welcome the opportunity to serve on its leadership team," said Dr. Alpert.
