SANTA CLARA, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/27/13 -- Net Optics, Inc., the leading provider of Total Application and Network Visibility solutions, announces the general availability of xFilter Version 3.0, providing total visibility and improved monitoring in converged environments. Net Optics will be demonstrating the solution at VMworld booth #523.
xFilter 3.0, which ships both as a physical and a virtual appliance, deploys in all areas of the converged data center. This programmable Network Packet Broker (NPB) offers up to 12 10GB ports, allowing tools to access and monitor traffic even when the latest protocol encapsulation is utilized in the data center. xFilter:
xFilter 3.0's advanced packet deduplication resolves issues caused by feeding duplicate traffic (captured in various areas of the network) to security, application and network monitoring tools. This redundancy overburdens tools, impairs performance and even causes imprecise reporting of errors. xFilter's unique, patent pending "de-dupe" approach sends monitoring tools only one copy of traffic of interest, which minimizes packet payload overhead, raises efficiency, and optimizes tool performance and accuracy. By eliminating duplicates, customers can double (or better) their utilization and data center tool throughput.
xFilter also allows engineers to use Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)-related information with IP-based filters, eliminating the need for complex device-peering with BGP routers. This capability leverages higher customer value in BGP traffic engineering. In addition, by not having to use a BGP stack, the solution becomes more cost-effective and simpler to use, providing better performance.
"xFilter's unrivaled port density [up to 12 10GB ports] enables the tools to deliver the performance, security, and compliance monitoring needed in physical, virtual and cloud environments," says Ran Nahmias, Net Optics Senior Director, Virtualization & Cloud Solutions. "Plus, it's the only augmenting solution of its kind that you can deploy with a few mouse clicks to enhance and advance your existing monitoring and access infrastructure."
The versatile xFilter supports stripping, encapsulation and deduplication for multiple protocols such as MPLS, PPPoE, Virtual Extensible LAN (VXLAN), Cisco FabricPath, ER-SPAN, and LTE / GTP -- in addition to Layer 2 and Layer 3 Filtering and policy-based forwarding. The xFilter can also be used to provide GRE tunneling (encapsulation and decapsulation) of traffic of interest, point-to-point.
xFilter 3.0 is now available for immediate order fulfillment.
