TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 09/10/13 -- EQ Works (TSX: EQ) a leader in targeted advertising and digital solutions was selected to help design and develop the Thrive365 mobile application that will empower people with non-insulin dependent type 2 diabetes to make better food choices on-the-go.
Thrive365 provides people with non-insulin dependent type 2 diabetes or with pre-diabetes with the ability to quickly and easily access food scores for prepared foods, food ingredients and most major restaurant menu items. The result is a more informed consumer who is capable of making smart dietary choices whether planning meals at home, in the grocery store or ready to order at a favourite restaurant.
Thrive365 wanted to take its ground-breaking patented food scoring system, and develop an innovative mobile and web application with an enhanced set of features and a smart and intuitive user experience. For this challenge, Thrive365 selected EQ Works' digital team for their creativity and expertise.
"This unique system helps people with diabetes balance the food they eat throughout the day, without the complexity of calculating carb requirements on a meal-to-meal basis. By putting easy-to-understand food information right in the palm of their hand, Thrive365 can make a real difference." said Pier Massa, CEO of Thrive365. "Helping them plan and balance their food choices throughout the day, at home or on the fly, is an essential part of restoring joy to their eating. The team at EQ Works understood our vision and working closely with them we were able to deliver a mobile experience that can make a difference on the lives of millions."
Adding to the convenience of accessing the patented scoring system, the mobile application offers useful tools for dietary planning and management such as the ability to record and store food choices and to upload blood glucose readings from their glucometers. In addition, participants will enjoy enhanced social and educational features with full access to the Diabetes Daily community that encompasses forums, news and valuable resources.
"We're excited to have worked with the Thrive365 team to turn such a worthwhile resource into a practical, accessible service for people with type 2 diabetes," said Paul Lockhard, VP, General Manager of EQ Digital. "This initiative underscores our approach of using technology as an enabler to engage audiences in a manner that's relevant to them, while also providing the ability to measure and improve performance of our clients' marketing initiatives."
EQ Works' mobile solution for Thrive365 was supported by several other cross-channel initiatives performed by EQ Works, including web and branding initiatives. The Thrive365 food scoring system is also available through the web at www.thrive365.com. While the Thrive365 application is currently being rolled out through select target markets, the application is currently available for download on iPhone and iPad devices throughout the United States.
Thrive365 advises that people with diabetes or pre-diabetes should always consult with a qualified healthcare professional and seek professional dietary advice. Thrive365 is designed to complement, not replace, a comprehensive program that focuses on a healthy lifestyle including qualified dietary advice, diabetes management and monitoring, and regular exercise.
