SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/16/13 -- Today, Box announced several innovative ways to capture, share and manage information in the enterprise in front of 2,500 IT leaders and developers from around the world at BoxWorks 2013. Box co-founder and CEO Aaron Levie unveiled all-new Box experiences for the web and mobile, a new content creation tool native to Box, and the ability to add context to all of your business content with metadata. All of the updates help businesses get more value from their information by making it more beautiful, immediate and relevant.

Customers including Rosetta Stone, Duke Energy, Schneider Electric, and New Balance attended BoxWorks to share strategies for navigating the changing business landscape in the post-PC era. Levie's keynote addressed how cloud and mobile technologies are radically reshaping the way information moves between individuals, within businesses, and throughout entire industries.

New Box Experience

• File Preview - The fastest, most elegant content viewing experience in the world is now on Box. The new Box preview experience leverages the world-class HTML5 technology developed by Crocodoc and acquired by Box in May of this year, making content navigation and workflows dramatically more intuitive and streamlined. Comments and tasks are more accessible and useful. Actions like downloading, sharing and editing are easier to access in the header. Users can drag and drop images directly to the desktop. Information about each file is also available within the header. And finally, users can select text within PDFs, Excel, and Word docs straight from the preview to copy and paste it for other uses.
  
  
• Box for iPhone and iPad - The new Box iOS app, previewed today at BoxWorks and available later this fall, was completely rebuilt using the technology behind Folders, which Box acquired earlier this year. The new iOS app is intuitive and incredibly fast, incorporating new user experience details and new technology that makes viewing any content -- from photos and videos to PDFs and presentations -- more elegant, rich and engaging.
  
  
• Box Notes - Box Notes is an entirely new way to securely capture and share ideas across teams and businesses in real-time on Box. Box Notes provides a clean, simple and lightweight editing interface that makes it easy to quickly create content and facilitate collaboration directly on Box. New Admin & Developer Tools

• Metadata - A new addition to the Box web application and Content API, metadata provides the easiest way to add new data types and information to the content stored in Box. The underlying technology allows users to add key:value pairs to files stored in Box via the API or web app, making it easy to add, edit and view additional types of information around a file from within a custom app or on Box. Companies can now integrate Box easily into their existing infrastructure and workflows with more options for what information can be stored alongside files. For example, a hospital could now make it simple for radiologist to add important data such as patient name and diagnosis when uploading x-ray images to Box. A private beta of metadata will be available in the coming months.
  
  
• Admin Console Enhancements - A robust rules engine powers the enhanced Box admin console, which now enables admins to create customizable security policies and alerts for uploads, downloads, and sharing to more closely manage content actions within an organization. The console also offers content process automation tools for managing how information moves in a business. Built on top of a new rules engine in the Box platform, these automation and security policies make content in Box more dynamic by allowing admins to control what content is stored in Box, easily monitor when content leaves Box, and build simple, repeatable processes based on folders and tasks.
