AUSTIN, TX -- (Marketwired) -- 10/08/13 -- Zenoss Inc., the leading provider of unified IT monitoring and management solutions for physical, virtual, and cloud-based IT, today announced a new ZenPack for managing Citrix XenServer. The ZenPack is available to both Zenoss' open source community and enterprise customers. ZenPacks allow users to rapidly extend the Zenoss Service Dynamics solution.
The Citrix XenServer virtualization platform is gaining popularity, especially for organizations looking to virtualize Linux workloads. As organizations embrace multiple virtualization platforms along with public and private clouds and even "multi-cloud" methods of consuming compute, storage, and networking capacity, the modern data center is no longer static and under a single roof -- it is virtual, elastic, and highly distributed. With this more sophisticated and complex approach it is essential for IT operations teams to have a unified view of their services and applications, along with all the IT resources they depend upon for reliable delivery, in order to ensure the performance and availability of services to business users.
Without a unified view of applications and services running within these environments, IT loses visibility and control in identifying and fixing issues that can cause downtime and lost user productivity.
The new ZenPack equips IT operations with features including automated discovery and dynamic correlation of infrastructure components such as CPU, network interfaces, storage repositories, and virtual machines. In addition, the XenServer ZenPack provides real-time performance and availability monitoring and event management across various components. For Zenoss customers using the Service Impact solution, the IT operations team can monitor the health of services and applications spanning multiple virtual platforms including XenServer, and can perform rapid root cause analysis in order to shorten mean time to resolution (MTTR). And because of its deep integration with CloudStack, Zenoss now provides comprehensive end-to-end IT operations capabilities for organizations running cloud management software such as CloudStack or CloudPlatform on XenServer.
"Among our own customer base and the industry at large, we are seeing a trend of organizations using multiple hypervisors to help manage different workloads," said Alan Conley, CTO of Zenoss. "If you're trying to use multiple tools to monitor and manage these environments, you're destined for more downtime and a higher cost of IT Operations as you struggle to find the root cause of issues. Ours is the only solution that can provide complete visibility into these environments in a single view."
