Designing and predicting new space propulsion systems

To meet the future technical needs of the next generation, space vehicles will require the adoption of new conceptual methods, especially for propulsion systems.

The space exploration industry is in the midst of a renaissance. As many of these designs and methods are without a historical precedent, programs will need to leverage a digital strategy if they are to compete in this new market. Successful organizations will need to adopt technology to achieve a competitive advantage with limited resources. Innovative companies will need to address challenges related to core engineering disciplines.

In the context of space propulsion systems, developing reliable, efficient, and robust propulsions require engineering tools in a managed environment. The ability to design and qualify propulsion systems is critical to program their performance success.

We’ll address critical topics like:

- Designing the complete rocket motor system (solid/liquid) and predict performance

- Analyzing thrust vectoring control and flight dynamics, including detailed mechanisms and structural behavior

- Modeling the fuel delivery system, from the tank to the pump and to the rocket nozzle

- Evaluating the fuel sloshing performance to ensure smooth fuel delivery and the impact on vehicle control

- Analyzing the propulsion system structural performance, from detailed structural design of propulsion system throughout the mission profile

- Performing environment and qualification testing, from components until integrated launcher
