CIMdata, Inc., the leading global PLM strategic management consulting and research firm, announces an upcoming free educational webinar, “Creating Value When PLM and ERP Work Together—ERP is PLM’s Most Important Customer.” The webinar will take place on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. (EDT) and will last for one hour.

The product development lifecycle is supported by a number of solutions that allow the data relevant to product design, production planning, production, and in-service operations to be organized and stored so that each of these areas can be optimized and enhanced. PDM and ERP are core enterprise software solutions used to define, plan, produce, and support a company’s products. Each solution is necessary for a company to maximize speed, quality, and profit in the development, production, and support of products. As the product develops, the information that defines it moves through these solutions depending on the needs of the work being done at a given time. To streamline the overall process, these solutions and the people who use them must be able to communicate and share data as seamlessly as possible. This requires an understanding of what each of the solutions does and whom it supports during the lifecycle.

John MacKrell, CIMdata’s Chairman and the host for this webinar, stated, “The proper relationship between ERP and PLM is generally not understood very well. However, each is necessary for a company to maximize speed, quality, and profit in the development, production, and support of products. The webinar will explore the differences and the interactions of these domains required to support innovation.”

Mr. MacKrell has over 40 years of experience in the application of computer-based solutions to engineering and manufacturing, with more than 20 years at CIMdata. He has held senior positions in product management, marketing, research and development, and consulting.

This webinar will describe both PLM and ERP, their roles, their benefits, and how they interact in terms of work processes and data flows.

The webinar will be useful to CFOs, ERP and PLM team leaders, manufacturing planners and engineers, PLM and ERP team members, engineering managers, all kinds of PLM users, IT leadership, solution providers, and anyone wanting to learn more about the relationship between PDM and ERP.

During the webinar attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about the topics discussed.
