Experience shows that there is a tendency to minimize what is required to support the myriad of tasks involved with building, designing, managing, and maintaining the real-time reporting needs of the hospital. Unlike rolling out a specific module of an EHR enterprise application, reporting involves a deeper understanding of clinical workflows and data capture, data relationships and storage, data migration, reporting tools, etc.

One individual cannot possess all of these skills, however, we believe that understanding the technology and toolsets will provide you the knowledge to take a hybrid approach to creating a reporting team. The overall goal being to enhance the capabilities of your current reporting team, ensure the quality of your data, and possibly save your organization money by pairing the right staff with the right skillsets.

Regardless of your role in the organization as it relates to reporting, whether it relates to clinical decision support, research, clinical quality reporting, or a business leader who needs to identify reporting resources, we believe that a better understanding of the technology will empower you to make better business decisions. A little goes a long way.
