Retail and apparel companies have been among the early adopters of RFID technologies, both internally and within their shared supply chains. During this virtual event, hear how retailers worldwide are using RFID to track individual items, improve inventory accuracy and have products on shelves when customers want to buy them.

11:00 AM Welcome and Introduction

Speaker: Mark Roberti, Founder and Editor, RFID Journal

11:05 AM Getting Started: Key Considerations for RFID Pilots and Deployments

Retailers looking to pilot or deploy radio frequency identification should ask many questions, such as: What categories should be considered? How many items should be tagged in order to gain insight into a business case? How many stores must be included in a pilot or early deployment? Who tags items, and when does this take place? And what read points are required? During this session, the answers to these and many other questions pertaining to a successful pilot or early-stage deployment will be explored.

11:40 AM Jewelry Company Uses RFID to Engage Shoppers, Increase Sales

A jewelry company has launched a multi-store pilot of a radio frequency identification solution enabling retailers that sell their jewelry to automatically display information about merchandise that customers asked to see, and allowing those shoppers to share the items' images after making a purchase. Store management can collect data regarding sales-floor behavior, including which items have been viewed, the percentage that were purchased and employees' sales rates. The technology is intended to provide shoppers at brick-and-mortar stores with the advantages they can gain during online shopping—such as easy access to data about a product and the ability to scroll to similar items before making a purchase. Learn how the system can be installed at any of the approximately 180 retailers that sell the firm's products, upon their request.

12:05 PM Choosing Tags and Protecting Customer Privacy

This session will explain the different types of RFID tags (wet inlays, labels and so forth) used on apparel, and explore the different options for applying tags to apparel items. The presenter will explain the different features of UHF tags, including privacy features, and how to choose the proper tag for your needs.

12:35 PM RFID-Enabled Stores Produce Quick ROI for Retailer

A vertically integrated clothing manufacturer and retailer is increasing the total number of RFID-enabled stores that it operates up to 100. The firm, which attributes improved stock levels and store performance to the technology, has already deployed radio frequency identification at 50 of its retail stores, most located in the United States. After analyzing the initial results, the firm reports that it is realizing a return on investment on RFID-enabled stores within six months. Learn how the stores are using the RFID system to decrease shrinkage, improve stock levels and reduce employee turnover.
