Cough droplet simulation with and without a mask
In this webinar, Siemens and Airbus will talk about the role of high-fidelity CFD simulation in understanding the transport of human cough droplets.
The joint team will discuss the complexity encountered in modeling the transport of cough droplets as well as the impact and effectiveness of face masks in reducing droplet transmission from a cough. Simulations were done using Simcenter STAR-CCM+, a Multiphysics CFD simulation tool from Siemens Digital Industries Software, which was used to support the methodologies developed in this preliminary study.
Meet our experts, who will discuss the methodology encountered with modeling cough droplets
- Guest speaker from Air Systems CFD simulation team, Airbus Operations GmbH
- Prashanth Shankara, Marketing Manager, Siemens Digital Industries Software
Prashanth is a CFD Engineer and Marketing Manager with Siemens bringing a decade of experience in simulation across a variety of industries.
- Dr. Aaron Bird, Product Manager, Siemens Digital Industries Software
Aaron is an experienced CFD Engineer and manages the Learning Services Portfolio at Siemens. Before Siemens, Aaron was a researcher at NIOSH participating in the testing & approval of the N95 and N99 respirator masks.
Who should attend?
- Aircraft manufacturers
- Transportation manufacturers
- Design and development engineers
- Medical researchers and device manufacturers
In this webinar, Siemens and Airbus will discuss:
- Simulation of cough droplets from an average human
- Challenges in engineering aircraft cabins
- Steps involved in understanding risk of disease transmission from cough droplets
