Libraries are not typically known to be innovators when it comes to new technology however the National Library of Scotland became trail blazers when they looked for a new solution to the storage and archiving of valuable national cultural collections. Having set themselves an ambitious goal for the digitization of their collections NLS needed a new approach to holding, protecting and making their vast amounts of data accessible to the public.
