X by Orange committed to launch a new, fully software-defined telco operator in Spain - from scratch. They wanted to “Uberize” the telco business by being completely cloud based and not owning a single piece of hardware. The goal was clear, but not easy: Streamline how a communications service provider works to launch new services in less than 90 days, provide an extremely simple user experience, and redefine the telco market. Also, the whole project, including hiring more than 120 people, developing the IT backend, and creating a sales, marketing, and go-to-market strategy, needed to be accomplished in 1 year.
