This four-day online educational event includes presentations from leading end users of radio frequency identification and Internet of Things technologies, as well as experts in deploying solutions.
While this online event doesn’t have virtual exhibits, you will be able to hear from leading solution providers.
The event starts with RFID Professional Institute Certification training and then features one track per day for three days. Click on the links below to see draft agenda for each day. We will be confirming speakers in the coming weeks, so check back regularly.
10:00 AM:Welcome and Introduction
Speaker: Mark Roberti, Founder and Editor, RFID Journal
10:05 AM:RFID Serves Up Sustainability With Reusable Cups
Technology startup Cuploop has launched an RFID-based cup-tracking solution designed to allow restaurants, cafés and drink vendors to automate the management of reusable cups. The firm uses RFID tags, readers and Cuploop's own cloud-based software in the cups, thereby offering a sustainable feature to their drink sales without requiring labor time for workers to manually monitor incoming cups and issuing deposit returns to customers. In addition to effectively tracking returned cups, the system captures the tags of all cups still in inventory, enabling Cuploop’s clients to know how many cups they have left and whether replenishment is required. Learn how the company has also developed a tag-reading machine and reusable cup receptacle that could capture the tag ID of each returned cup, automate deposit returns for customers and accept other takeaway containers. By automating the receipt of used cups or other beverage or food containers, the machine eliminates the need for manual sorting and belt systems, while providing data indicating what has been returned and can thus be cleaned and reused.
Speaker: Marek Suchaževski, Co-Founder and CEO, Cuploop
10:35AM:Sponsored Session: Talkin’Things
11:05 AM:Retailer Boosts RFID TagRead Safety, Efficiency with Shelfie Stick
Ralph Lauren began deploying RFID in Europe in 2019, to manage inventory in back rooms and at store fronts, with passive UHF RFID tags attached at the source. In order to read the tags in the back room of the stores, the sales staff slid ladders into position and climbed up to read tags on goods located up to 9 feet high, then step down, move the ladders, and begin again. To overcome that obstacle, the firm began using an extendable device known as a Shelfie Stick. Developed and patented by RFID Sherpas, the stick enables the retailer to nearly eliminate the use of ladders when employees conduct daily RFID-based inventory counts, reducing count times and injury risk. Learn how Ralph Lauren has reduced by approximately 40 percent of its previous RFID counting time, while boosting tag read accuracy.
Speaker: Mark Berryman, Former EU Project Manager, Ralph Lauren
11:45 AM:Sponsored Session: SML
Speaker: Dean Frew, Chief Technology Officer and Senior VP RFID Solutions, SML Group
12:25 PM: IoT Delivers for Schwan
Grocery delivery service Schwan's Home Delivery (SHD) has deployed a wireless Internet of Things (IoT) solution to manage the movements of 3,000 delivery vehicles into and out of its 300 depots nationwide. With the solution in place, SHD can ensure consistent food temperatures all the way to a customer's door, providing a high-quality frozen product without requiring numerous manual temperature checks by employees. Learn how the technology helps SHD respond to any temperature excursions in real time at its depots, and to collect historical data for analytics purposes.
Speaker: Larry Gaskin, Sr. Director of Warehouse Operations and Facilities Operations, Schwan's Home Delivery
12:55 PM:Museum Leverages RFID to Personalize Content and Enable Pandemic-Era Safety
The United States Olympic & Paralympic Museum (USOPM), which opened in the summer of 2020 despite the COVID-19 pandemic, is leveraging a radio frequency identification system initially designed to personalize the visitor experience. The 60,000-square-foot museum offers a personalized experience using digital content that can be modified according to a visitor's specific interests, as well as his or her physical or mental accessibility requirements. The RFID system enables the museum to set the occupancy levels and alert the staff if a gallery is approaching its maximum number of guests allowed, and also provides the opportunity for contact tracing. Learn how RFID, in addition to providing accessibility and social distancing, offers USOPM additional benefits including the ability to forecast the popularity of content.
Speaker: John V. Christie, SVP & COO, Gallagher Museum Services & U.S Olympic & Paralympic Museum
1:25 PM:BOPIS Benchmark Survey
For the past year and a half, the Auburn University RFID Lab has been collecting data on the BOPIS customer experience from various retail partners. In this session hear how they have developed a benchmark and gain an understanding of how various retailers are fulfilling customer BOPIS requests.
Speaker: Justin Patton, Director, RFID Lab, Auburn University
1:55 PM:Closing Remarks
Speaker: Mark Roberti, Founder and Editor, RFID Journal
