Effective learning is about more than just education; it's about successfully addressing the needs of the whole student. That means including mental health support and more. The key is to understand those needs so that no student gets left behind. In this webinar, host Albert Shen of Verizon and speakers Dr. Lisa Aasheim of Portland Community College, Dr. Carissa Moffat Miller of the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) and Mark Mitsui of Portland Community College will discuss how to adjust hybrid learning models to support digital inclusion for all students. The speakers will explore the impact that changing learning models have made across K-12 and higher education, for both students and teachers. They'll also talk about diversity and inclusion, and how to provide connectivity to those who need it most. Meet our guest speakers: Dr. Aasheim is a longtime counseling clinic director, associate professor and mental health professional who specializes in "helping the helpers," which includes medical personnel, first responders, mental health practitioners and educators. Dr. Moffat Miller works with state education chiefs to help ensure that all students have the opportunity to graduate from high school prepared for college, careers and life. With a deep understanding of education policy at the state and national levels, Dr. Moffat Miller leads CCSSO's efforts to help states deliver equitable education opportunities to every student. Mark Mitsui is the first Asian American president in the 58-year histo1y of Portland Community College, which educates over 60,000 students annually. He was selected by the Portland Business Journal as Executive of the Year in 2018 and is on a number of boards, including the Governor's Workforce and Talent Development Board.
