Tools for REMI production

‘At home’ and remote production – often now referred to with the acronym REMI (remote integration model) – was already on the rise before the pandemic. But with production teams more displaced and distributed than ever before during the last two years, the approach whereby content is captured at a remote location while production takes place back at a media centre has not just become fashionable – in many cases it’s been essential to keeping live production, especially of news and sports, up-and-running. From remotely operated audio platforms to fully managed services that can deliver video, audio and data from a location back to the studio – the number of solutions geared explicitly towards REMI production continues to grow. But to what extent are they meeting broadcaster requirements or are there still hurdles to be overcome in achieving streamlined remote productions – whatever the location or setting…? In this IBC 365 webinar, a panel of broadcast production experts will address some of the key issues related to REMI, including: - The extent to which standardised workflows have emerged for REMI production - The ‘priority list’ for achieving a successful REMI production, including IP bonding, compression, remote control platforms, etc - The role of mobile networks in REMI, including the expected impact of 5G-based contribution - The impact of distributed workflows on REMI, and the avoidance of complexity caused by delivering to multiple platforms and outlets.
