Four Pitfalls of Value Stream Management and How to Avoid Them

Value Stream Management promises to unite companies and their customers through the visualization and management of value. And when all systems and people on a Value Stream are correctly identified, VSM is a powerful tool to manage them. Your Value Streams will support and align to your OKRs and enable high-performing teams and happy customers. However, when implemented incorrectly, an organization risks building non-value added items in favor of items that are of much higher priority. The news isn’t all bad because in this session you will learn the four pitfalls of VSM and how to avoid them. If your organization is making the switch to VSM or if you’re already a practitioner, this session will serve to teach the four pitfalls and how to avoid them: the misidentification of value, underestimating your value stream, incorrect mapping techniques, and measuring the wrong items, or forgetting to measure at all.
